GEL-PAK SHOWCASES COMPONENT HANDLING SOLUTIONS FOR MILITARY AND SPACE APPLICATIONS AT THE COMPONENTS FOR MILITARY AND SPACE ELECTRONICS CONFERENCE IN LOS ANGELES, CA APRIL 25-27
Company Leverages Extensive Collaborations with Industry Leaders to Address Evolving Market Requirements for Device Handling and Protection
HAYWARD, CA., March 1, 2023 — Gel-Pak, a Delphon company and a worldwide leader in cutting-edge materials and protective carriers for military and space electronic components, today announced it will demonstrate its latest material breakthroughs for military applications at The Components for Military and Space Electronics Conference (CMSE) in Los Angeles, CA April 25-27. The products exemplify the company’s 40-year track record of collaborative development and innovation in electronic device handling solutions.
For more than 40 years, Gel-Pak has manufactured elastomer coated boxes, trays, slides, and films that are used to protect and immobilize valuable devices during shipping, handling, and processing. Working in collaboration with key industry leaders, Gel-Pak has continued to innovate using novel elastomer materials and form factors to streamline process steps in the manufacturing of military electronics. These advances allow for better throughput and significantly reduced risk of breakage of high-value devices.
- The patented LCS2 Lid/Clip system was designed by Gel-Pak and BAE Systems to prevent thin semiconductor components from migrating out of the pockets of traditional waffle pack chip trays. The LCS2™ consists of a padded, static dissipative gold lid and a highly engineered gold clip that uniformly compresses the tray and lid together to seal each waffle pack pocket. This lid/clip system has been proven to eliminate migration issues and save millions in rework labor and yield loss.
- The Gel-Pak TXF film carrier uses a unique micro texture to secure and protect fragile devices using non-adhesive holding forces. The product offers a clean method of holding components by only touching 2% of a device’s surface, which significantly reduces residue.
- Gel-Pak’s VRP and APV device carriers offer the same form and function as traditional Gel-Pak products, yet are made using a silicone-free, static dissipative elastomer that holds fragile components in place.
“Military and Space electronic handling standards are more stringent than ever before. Protecting yields and providing cleaner more protective component handling and transport solutions is critical to this market,” says Joe Montano, Delphon CEO. Our collaborative approach to product development allows us to stay one step ahead of emerging market demands and drives continuous product innovation to ensure your military components remain free from damage during handling and transport.”
